After years of neutral-dominance, it’s time for colour to re-enter the spotlight. One of our favourite things about this shade is that it surprisingly doesn’t clash with varying colour palettes. With bright colours (like oranges and pinks) it enhances and with blacks and browns it strikingly contrasts. Plus, if you’re still having a moment with neutrals, rest assured, cyber lime seamlessly compliments without clashing. Just be sure to optimize crisp neutrals for the best effects.
Houseplants: Cyber Lime Edition
Neon Pothos (Epipremnum aureum ‘Neon’)
Pothos are a favourite here at Emerson Wild. Low-maintenance with luscious hanging leaves, elevate your spaces with this neon variety. It exhibits the brightest and boldest yellow-greens. Moreover, each new leaf almost has a neon glow as it unfurls.
Julie’s Notes: For a modern look, pair with a white textured vessel or a bright terracotta to really enhance the neon.
Chameleon ZZ (Zamioculcas zamiifolia ‘Chameleon’)
Hardy and (nearly) impossible to kill, any ZZ plant is a wonderful addition to the home. This particular variety grows in two tones. Young leaves are a bright lemon-lime that as they mature change to the classic deep green. It’s an incorporation of cyber lime that is subtle but still gets the bright colour across.
Dracaena ‘Limelight’ (Dracaena fragrans ‘Limelight’)
Robust and determined to bring a touch of the tropical, this ‘limelight’ variety of the beloved dracaena is sure to make a splash. Eye-catching and a true statement plant; this slow grower is an excellent choice for beginners and experts alike.
Cyber Lime in Container Gardening
The (wild) world of container gardening is our happy place, and it’s also where we enjoy experimenting with new colour combinations. This year, we will look to bring in cyber lime and other vivid neon tones into our containers using these selections.
Sweet Potato Vine (Impomea batatas)
Fast growing, lovely heart-shaped leaves presented in an ever-appealing rich chartreuse. The easy vining habit make this an ideal spiller (trailing plants that ‘spill’ over the container, adding vertical visual interest). Try varieties: “Sweet Caroline Sweetheart Lime”, “Sweet Caroline™Upside Key Lime” or “Margarita”.
Painted Nettle (Coleus scutellarioides)
A chartreuse thriller (the drama of a container garden that brings height and visual interest together), specifically the variety “ColorBlaze® ‘Lime Time'” is an excellent selection for adding a zesty and fresh visual punch to your gardens. Use as a focal point and don’t be afraid to pair with other intense colours, for a true show-stopper. And if you need additional inspiration on the thriller front, read about other thrillers we adore for our container gardens.
Coral Bells (Heuchera species/hybrids)
If you love what coral bells do for your container gardens, wait till you try varieties “Primo® ‘Pistachio Ambrosia'” or “Dressed Up® ‘Ball Gown'”. Both of these heavily ruffled foliage numbers showcase a brilliant cyber lime. We would utilize either variety as a filler (lush, compact plants that ‘fill’ the visual spaces of your containers), and look to pair with magentas and brilliant oranges. The birds, bees and hummingbirds will thank you for it!
So cheers to the new, the exciting and welcoming a colour that will seek to embolden and energize your spaces, both indoors and out. May Cyber Lime be that pop of colour you’ve been waiting for.
